Jay - Vocal/Guitar
I think I was around 13 years old when I started playing
guitar and singing but it wasn't
until 2005 that a chap called Stu said, "Do you fancy fronting a band?".
I've never looked back! I was even lucky enough to name the band.
Speedsta was born from my love for Classic American
muscle cars and the Porsche Speedster. 'Speed' the ultimate
thrill.
And then there's punk! For me that means the Foo Fighters,
Green Day, Nirvana and QOTSA. If
Dave Grohl ever needs a break, I'm there!
Other influences; Fu Manchu & Millencolin. |

Arron - Bass
I started
playing bass at 18 and joined a band 2 weeks after picking my bass up – if
you can call 3 guys jamming in a bedroom a band? Joined Stranded
on my return from Uni and have never looked back really, from
Stranded I went to Eleven Days, following this a
couple of years later I was integrated into Speedsta by a
drummer who assured me I would only have to fill in for a couple of
months! Influences would include Jason Newstead of Metallica,
Mr Mike Drint of Green Day and Nate Mendal of the mighty
Foo Fighters. I enjoy playing my bass one huge amount – this
only surpassed by my joy of playing in Speedsta – Probably
as much fun as you could have with your clothes on – or once a mighty
singer once said. See you at the next gig. |

Jim - Drums/Vocal
My early musical influences came
from listening to bands like
Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and
Rush. You can definitely say
that I am
a rock influenced drummer! For quite a number of years I played in various
well known
bands in and around the York area. The most popular of these (and the
best) was a three
piece band called Quithead. Our set comprised of mainly rock/blues based
original
songs, performing at places as diverse as, converted chapels to outdoor
venues like the
Rowntrees Peace Festival. I
eventually returned
to playing in various bands in the Harrogate area, where I joined my first
'funtime'
covers band, Beauty and the Beasts. However, my present band is a
fitting testament
to my past and present musical tastes and influences. I am proud to
be playing (with
three other great like minded musicians) the music of Green Day,
Nirvana, Foo Fighters
and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to name only a few. Once a rock
drummer, always a rock
drummer. Thank god there was a John Bonham......
It must definitely be in my blood!!
